Abstract

1278881 Printing apparatus ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHER AG 5 Aug 1970 [9 Aug 1969 15 Oct 1969] 37773/70 Heading B6C. A train of dampening rollers, extending from a fountain roller 5 to a forme roller 1, includes an elastic-surfaced roller 6 which is driven at a speed such as to produce predetermined amount of slip between the separately driven fountain roller 5 and the roller 6 which does not interfere with an even transfer of dampening fluid. Preferably, the forme roller 1 and the roller 6 are mounted on levers 8, 18, and may be tripped by pneumatic cylinders 9, 19, or adjusted by threaded nuts 17, 21. The fountain roller 5 may be mounted in double eccentric bushings for tripping,-and may be wiped by a roller 26 and a doctor blade 27. The forme roller 1 may be swept by a roller 14, which may be axially reciprocated in use and which can be tripped by rotation of an eccentric bushing 15. Preferably the axes of the rollers 5 and 6 are skew. A further slip may be present between the roller 6 and the roller 7, which derives its rotation from that of the plate cylinder 3.
