Abstract

460,092. Printing-machines. STRACHAN & HENSHAW, Ltd., FOWERAKER, T. S., SARGENT, T., and TAYLOR, F. R. F. July 19, 1935, No. 20639. Addition to 433,132. [Class 100 (ii)] Inking-apparatus.-An inking-apparatus for a printing-machine as described in the parent Specification in which is used a rapid drying ink having a high solid content and in which the duct roller is driven frictionally, or through the intervening film of ink, from the forme-inking rollers, is modified by arranging that the ductroller is driven independently of the inking- roller through a variable speed electric motor, or an infinitely variable speed mechanism, to enable the speed of the duct roller to be adjusted relatively to that of the inking-roller. The shaft a of the duct roller d is geared by chain gearing to a variable speed electric motor, or, as shown, to a main driving-pulley f fitted with a sprocket e which drives a chain m through an infinitely variable gear box k. The chain m drives a sprocket l on the shaft a, and a jockey sprocket q maintains the chain taut. The pulley f drives the printing-machine through a clutch o which permits the duct roller to be driven when the machine is stopped.
