In a printing-machine the cylinder driving mechanism allows ready adaptation for printing cylinders of different sizes and comprises a driven shaft 6 carrying bevel gears 7a, 7b meshing with gears 8a, 8b driving respectively the impression and printing cylinders. Connected to gear 8b is a gear 9, meshing with an equal gear 10 coupled to the printing cylinder 3. The gear 8a is connected by a shaft 11 to a pinion 12 connected through a movable gear 13 with a gear 14 driving the impression cylinder 1. Inking rollers 4, 5 co-operate with the printing cylinder 3, roller 5 being driven from a gear 15 on the other end of the impression cylinder connected through gears 16, 17 and 18. According to the invention the pinion 12 is interchangeable and is selected so that its diameter is always related in the same proportion to the diameter of the changeable printing cylinder. The gear 13 can be displaced to accommodate the pinions 12 of different size and the bearings of the impression cylinder are adjustable so that it may be positioned to accommodate different sizes of printing cylinder. Gear 16 driving the inking rollers is displaceable with the impression cylinder on arms pivoted on the axle of gear 17. The inking rollers are thereby driven at a speed depending on the speed of the impression cylinder. By this means the peripheral speeds of the impression cylinder and inking rollers are kept the same as the peripheral speed of the printing cylinders for the different sizes of the latter. Several printing couples may be embodied together in a multi-colour machine, the printing cylinders being driven by a series of bevel gears such as 7b spaced along shaft 6 and all the impression cylinders being driven through a single interchangeable pinion 12. Perforating mechanism may also be driven through this gear but cutting mechanism, where this is provided, is driven from shaft 6 so as to rotate at the same speed as the printing cylinder.
