905,757. Rotary printing-machines. NEBIOLO S.p.A. Aug. 29, 1960 [May 18, 1960], No. 29741/60. Class 100 (2). In a sheet-fed rotary machine for printing in two colours and having printing units 1, 2 connected by transfer cylinders 6, 7, 8, each carrying respective gear-wheels 6a, 7a, 8a and sheet clamping means 13, 14, the power drive to the impression cylinders 3 of the units and the cylinders 6, 7, 8 is effected from a common source but transmission of power through the transfer cylinders from one cylinder 3 to the other is prevented by cutting the teeth of the gear-wheel 7a, which is the central wheel of the train 6a, 7a, 8a such that complete mesh between the wheel 7a and either of the wheels 6a, 8a is only effected at the moment of sheet transfer from either the cylinder 6 or the cylinder 7. Each printing unit comprises printing, offset and impression cylinders 5, 4, 3, the latter being driven from a common power shaft 9 through bevel gearing 10, 11. Gear wheels 3a, 3b keyed to the impression cylinders mesh with the wheels 8a and 6a, respectively.
