Abstract

604,570. Printing-machines. GOSS PRINTING PRESS CO., Ltd. Nov. 27, 1945, No. 32046. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1944. [Class 100(ii)] The cylinders of a rotary printing-machine are driven from a main drive shaft 30 through resilient gears 46, and the inking drums are driven from shaft 30 through different gears comprising hypoid gears 50 and a shaft 51 which drives the inking drums by means of bevel gears 54, 55 and a train of spur gears, and which drives the fountain rollers 20 at reduced speed by means of worm gears 53. The gears 46 are mounted on a printing cylinder 13 and impression cylinder 10, which drive the corresponding members 11, 12 of a perfecting couple by means of spur gears. The gears 46 comprise a hub 44 and an external toothed ring 45 connected by resilient members comprising rubber balls 47 arranged in pairs and held in compression in registering sockets formed in adjacent faces of the hub and ring by means of retaining rings 48 and screws 49.
