766,598. Printing machines. BOLLINGTON PRINTING CO., Ltd., and LEWIS, A. Sept. 13, 1955 [Sept. 14, 1954], No. 26535/54. Class 100(2) In a multi-colour printing machine wherein a number of printing cylinders are arranged around a single impression cylinder, each printing cylinder A is driven through an intermediate pinion b from a crown wheel B mounted on a shaft B' coaxial with but independent of the impression cylinder, and each pinion b is mounted on a spindle d carrying a worm D engaging a wormwheel D' so that by operation of the wormwheel D<SP>1</SP>, the pinion can be moved tangentially of the crownwheel B. The shaft a, of each cylinder A carries a driven pinion a<SP>1</SP> between which and the crown wheel B is the intermediate pinion b, Figs. 1 and 3, mounted freely between plates b<SP>1</SP> on a spindle b<SP>2</SP>. Through each end of the spindle b<SP>2</SP> passes an adjusting screw d carrying a wormwheel D operated by a wormwheel D<SP>1</SP> on the spindle d\ rotatably by a hand wheel d<SP>2</SP>, or electrically, hydraulically, pneumatically or mechanically. to displace the pinion b not more than half the pitch of its teeth in either direction tangentially of the wheel B, so as to alter the register between the cylinder A and the impression cylinder.
