Abstract

1,183,583. Mounting flexible printing plates. ADAMOVSKE STROJIRNY, NARODNI PODNIK. 27 April, 1967, No. 19360/67. Heading B6C. A flexible printing plate 19, Fig. 4, is adjustably mounted on a forme cylinder 20 by means of clamping bars 12 which are actuable by lock levers 13 and are mounted in a longitudinal gap within the cylinder. One set of bars 12 is mounted in association with a bar 8 fixed within the gap and a bar 6 movable therealong whilst the other set of bars 12 is mounted in conjunction with a bar 7 movable longitudinally of the gap and a plate-tensioning bar 10 movable transversely of the gap. The underside of the latter bar 10 carries a number of racks 24 each of which is engageable by the teeth of a gear 17 mounted for rotation on a spindle 16 extending longitudinally of the cylinder gap and rotatable on the cylinder end wall by a worm and gearing arrangement. The movable bars 6, 7 are connected to their respective clamping bars 12 through inclined slots and pin arrangements 9, 21, 22 and 11, 21, 22 such that movement of the bars 6, 7 axially of the cylinder through rotation of a worm actuable spindle 3 causes the bars 6, 7 and thus the clamped ends of the plate 19, to skew relative to the cylinder axis. An indicator is mounted at the end of the spindle 3 to show the extent of the skewing movement. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, actuation of a worm and gearing arrangement 101, 102 causes a lever 104 mounted across the cylinder gap to skew movable bars mounting the plate clamping bars. A spring-loaded bar 109 is movable transversely of the gap by eccentrics 111 to adjust the tensioning of the mounted plate.
