Abstract

1,024,049. Knitting-machines. WILLIAM COTTON Ltd. Dec. 17,1964 [Dec. 19,1963], No. 50289/63. Heading D1C. The machine described in Specification 960, 816 has plating yarn carrier end stops one of which is shown at 31, Fig. 4, secured to an adjustable nut 22 mounted on a lead screw 24. In addition spacer blocks 35, 36, 37, 38 are provided on the ends of levers mounted on the nuts and which are selectively controlled to interpose a block between the end stop 31 and the plating carrier rod lug which engages the stop or blocks at each end of its traverse. Accordingly the plating carrier traverse can, in addition to the adjustment made by the stop 31, also be limited in its traverse by one or more of the blocks being selected and positioned in front of the end stops. The blocks may be of varying thickness to correspond to one or more needle spacings. The levers of the blocks may be operated by solenoids controlled from a punch card. The end stops and nuts are controlled by pawl and ratchet mechanism which is selectively operated according to the dictates of the pattern.
