Abstract

988,559. Printing apparatus. CHAMBON Ltd. Sept. 17, 1963 [Sept. 21, 1962; Dec. 10, 1962], No. 36532/63. Heading B6C. In a rotary offset printing machine in which ink of a fatty or oily character is fed from a mass 5 disposed above the line of contact 4 of inking and ink feed rollers 2 and 3, the rollers are rotated in the same direction whilst a doctor 12 is disposed in contact with the roller 3 above the line of contact 4. The thickness of the ink film coating the inking roller 2 beneath the contact line 4 may be adjusted by varying the rotative speed of the roller 3. To this end, the latter roller may be driven either from a separate adjustable-speed motor or from the same motor as that driving the etched printing cylinder 1 and roller 2, by interposing a variablespeed gearing therebetween. Excess ink is removed from the roller 3 by a doctor 13.
