Abstract

1,117,235. Inking apparatus. MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd., J. A. RAKOWICZ, and G. A. WARK. 31 Aug., 1965 [1 Sept., 1964], No. 35783/64. Heading B6C. In a web-fed letterpress printing machine in which a printing cylinder 3 carrying four letterpress plates 4 is inked by a forme roller 5 from a transfer drum 6, the ink is ejected from a syringe 9 into the nip between the drum and a coacting roller 17. The piston of the syringe is continuously advanced by screw gearing 13, 14, 15 driven by an electric motor 16. The ink is spread on the transfer drum 6 either by axial reciprocation of the drum or like reciprocation of coacting distributer rollers 7. In a further embodiment, the piston of the syringe is advanced intermittently through an adjustable clutch arrangement driven from the machine drive.
