Abstract

Rotary offset print machine has an ink feed including a film roll (2) connected via a number of transfer rolls to a plate cylinder (23). One (3) of the transfer rolls, pref. one near the ductor roll, is driven to have a peripheral speed slightly different from that of the plate cylinder. Pref. the peripheral speed of the one transfer roll is higher, say 2 to 10% than that of the plate cylinder. The one transfer roll may have peripheral grooves which proceed at opposite hand spirals from the ends of the roll towards the middle. The arrangement encourages uniformity of the ink-water emulsion.
