583,972. Locking nuts and bolts. ERICSSON, G. L. Aug. 24, 1944, No. 16134. [Class 89 (i)] Relates to locking nuts and bolts by an externally conical sleeve 3, Figs. 1 and 2, threaded on to the bolt and consists in forming the sleeve with one or more external grooves 6 and/or one or more internal grooves 7, the sleeve not being cut entirely through. The grooves may be axial or helical and in some cases the cone angles for the nut and sleeve may differ slightly. The bolt may be tapped into one member 10, Fig. 5, the connected part of the sleeve may engage a countersink in the other member 9, or the holes in both plates may be unthreaded and the conical sleeve engaging a countersink may be the sole nut.
