Abstract

525,695. Bolting. BENNETT, N. K., and BRITISH WIRE PRODUCTS, Ltd. Feb. 25, 1939, No. 6312. [Class 89 (i)] Plates, particularly thin plates accessible only from one side, are connected by two-part pieces 1, 6 in screw threaded engagement at 9. The parts are assembled initially as shown in Fig. 5 the external diameter being substantially constant. After insertion in the hole in the plates up to the flange 7 this is held or rotated by a spanner engaging the flange or by a tubular tool engaging slots 8, a concentric tool engaging a hole or recess 3 in the end of the other part. Relative rotation of the parts then causes a conical surface 16 on one part to act on a bevel surface 5 on the other part and expand it to form a flange 15. The part 6 may be tapped for the attachment of devices or fittings by a screw 17, and the tapered end 10 may be slotted to permit deformation to secure a locking action on the screw.
