Abstract

895,237. Locking-nuts. KAYNAR MFG. CO. Inc. Jan. 7, 1959 [Sept. 18, 1958], No. 609/59. Class 89(1). A lock-nut comprises a body 12 with a base flange 10 at one end, the body being formed to provide at least one point 19 such that the nut can be turned by an ordinary spanner. Away from the point, or between the points where there are two or three, the body is flattened to produce a change in the internal thread 14 from cylindrical at the base to oval at the end remote from the base. The thread is rendered discontinuous by an axial groove 15 at each point.
