618,102. Locking nuts. HART, I. Oct. 18, 1946. No. 31108. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1945. [Class 89 (i)] Wing nuts are locked by forming the end of one or both of the wings 2 with a screwed shank tapped into the body 1 of the nut to engage the bolt thread either directly or through a copper pad 5. In a modification ordinary nuts are cross drilled and tapped either perpendicular to the bolt axis or at an angle thereto to receive locking set screws that also serve as wings.
