Abstract

585,830. Set-screws. LORD, G., and BURGESS, G. May 4, 1944, No. 8435. [Class 89 (i)] Set-screws for locking parts such as screwthreaded members are provided with renewable pads of soft metal such as lead, babbitt, or copper to engage the thread of the member without damage. The head C of the pad may be shaped to engage the thread and the stem is hollowed out at C<1> so that after insertion in an undercut recess B in the screw a blow on the head will cause the end of the stem to spread and prevent unintentional separation of the parts.
