Abstract
844,485. Sockets; reamers and taps. SCHMID, H., [trading as SCHMID, H. VORM. SCHMID & SOHN, A.]. Dec. 13, 1957 [Dec. 18, 1956; Aug. 19, 1957], No. 38733/57. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIV] A shank 1, for mounting in a machine-tool spindle, is resiliently-connected to a rotary-tool or socket 2 by a coupling 3, a screw 4 and a resilient washer 5. The member 3, Fig. 1, is shaped to engage serrations 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>, on the shank and socket respectively. The screw is attached to the shank and socket by screw-threads and a head 4<SP>1</SP>, respectively, the washer 5 being interposed between the head 4<SP>1</SP> and the socket 2. In another embodiment, the tool 14, Fig. 5, is flanged at 15 and has an extension 16 screwed into a sleeve 17 which is serrated at 18 for direct engagement with serrations 13 on shank 11. A cap 20 connects the shank 11 to the sleeve 17 by threads 21 and a flange 20<SP>1</SP> respectively, and material 19, held in a recess 12 in the shank and a recess formed by the sleeve 17 and extension 16, provides the resilience.
