942,071. Machine tool details. F. BELBIN. Nov. 17, 1961 [Nov. 18, 1960], No. 39656/60. Heading B3B. A tool holder comprises a spigot 12 fitting loosely in a socket 16, the socket carrying two axially-spaced resilient rings 28, 30. The socket and spigot are drivingly connected by looselyfitting pins 24. A reamer is secured in the spigot 12 by a screw 36. The rubber rings 32, 34 steady the tool in use. The socket carries a tapered or cylindrical shank 10 having a chamfer 38 and a rubber ring 42. In a modification, a rubber ring 70, Fig. 2, resists axial movement of the tool. In a further modification, the spigot is prevented from rotating relatively to the socket by rubber rings 102, 104, Fig. 3, compressed against a shoulder 100 on the socket. The spigot may thus carry a tap which can slip if excessive resistance is met.
