Abstract
834,490. Milling-cutters. SNYDER TOOL & ENGINEERING CO. Aug. 6,1957 [Oct. 15, 1956], No. 24690/57. Class 83 (3). A milling-cutter 24 having axially-adjustable blades 26, carries an axially-adjustable ring 22 engaging the end surface of the machine spindle 5 so that, after grinding the blades, the ring 22 may be adjusted to position the blades in the original axial relationship to the spindle. The cutter body 24 is centred on a spigot 40 of a mounting-ring 20, itself centred on the spindle by a pin 12 secured by a draw-bar 16, and the body and ring are keyed by blocks 52 secured to the ring by screws 54. The ring is keyed to the spindle by blocks 46, secured to the spindle by screws 48. The adjustable ring 22 screws on the ring 20 and is split at 32 and weakened at 34 so that it may be clamped by a screw 32. Screws 62 secure the cutter and rings to the spindle, and screws secure the cutter and ring 20 together. Specification 635,597 is referred to.
