Abstract

886,580. Screw-cutting and -tapping attachments. RAYMOND, H. F. Feb. 20, 1960, No. 6053/60. Class 83 (3). A tap and die holder 12, Fig. 2, has a shank 13 rotatable in a body 9 fixed in a chuck 10. Holder 12 has diametrically opposed longitudinal bores 21, housing pins 20 and an annular groove 22 cuts into the bores. The enlarged end 6 of body 9 has radial holes 24b, Fig. 4, containing dogs 23 which are movable through the groove to engage the pins by a sleeve 26 slidable on body 9 between two positions determined by a spring-pressed detent ball 28. The dogs have chamfered faces 24a co-operating with a chamfered surface at the mouth of the sleeve. Specification 688,678 is referred to.
