Abstract
631,264. Recording-apparatus. FOXBORO CO. April 9, 1947, No. 9431. Convention date, May 31, 1946. [Class 106 (iv)] A chart hub for supporting a record chart with a central hole comprises a base with a surface against which the central portion of the chart bears and a sleeve movable axially through a part of the base over which the hole in the chart is slipped, the chart being held against the surface of the base by resilient clamping means mounted in the sleeve as they are forced outwards by a plurality of balls mounted freely in holes in the sleeve when the balls are urged outwards upon movement of the sleeve toward the base. A chart 12 bears against a surface 20 of a cup-shaped base 18 having a central boss 22, screw-threaded to receive a reduced part 24 of a clock-driven shaft 26 and a spindle 32, the whole being locked by a screw 38. A sleeve 28 slides axially in a groove 29 in the base 18 and is retained when drawn to the right in Fig. 3 by a shoulder 36 of a cap 34 on the spindle 32. Peripheral extensions of three leaf springs 44, 46, 48 are held against the part 51 of the sleeve 28 by a ring 50 so that the springs working in longitudinal slots 52 in co-operation with balls 56, 62, 64 clamp the chart 12 against the face 20 when the sleeve is in the position shown in Fig. 3 with the balls just riding over the surface 59 and so that the springs recede into the slots 52 and hold the balls in the groove 53 when the sleeve is retracted to the right, thus allowing the chart to be slipped off.
