Abstract

601,190. Work-holders. REDMER, E. A. F. Oct. 30, 1945, No. 28758. [Class 83 (iii)] A work-holder, operated by fluid pressure, comprises an axially slidable sleeve 13, Fig. 2, mounted in a housing 12 and surrounding a split collet 18, secured against axial movement by a screwed ring 22, the inside surface of the sleeve being provided with longitudinal recesses 26, Fig. 4, to provide circumferentially spaced bearing faces engaging the collet ; the collet and sleeve are fitted with bevel faces 14, 19 and the recesses form passages for the escape of foreign matter. The sleeve is operated by a lever 36 from a piston 31 and an adjustable work stop 43 is provided.
