811,617. Machine-tool details. GLEASON WORKS. Aug. 28, 1957 [Sept. 12, 1956], No. 27006/57. Class 83 (3). An hydraulic clamping device for the slide of a machine-tool &c., comprises first and second annular members 13, 14, respectively, adapted for relative axial sliding movement, one member being adapted for connection to one part 10 to be clamped, and a clamp-bolt 15 disposed axially of the members and adapted for engagement with the other member 14 (through a cap nut 17), and a second part 11 to be clamped. The first member 13 is provided with radiallyspaced, coaxial, external-cylindrical surfaces, and the second member 14 has coaxial, internalcylindrical surfaces sliding on said external surfaces, an annular fluid-chamber 21 being defined between the members. Each of the internal surfaces is provided with a groove and a sealing ring, and the member 13 is provided with a port for hydraulic fluid, opening into the chamber 21.
