881,680. Joint-making packing. PARKERHANNIFIN CORPORATION. March 21, 1960, No. 9935/60. Class 122 (3). [Also in Group XXV] A gasket comprises a rubber &c. packing member 19 located in a recess 24 at one end of a metal &c. confining ring 18, the member 19, in its free condition, having a first projection 30 extending axially beyond the ring and a second projection 31 extending radially into the ring bore 23a and a recess 32 between the projections and of sufficient volume so that, in use, for example as shown in Fig. 1, for sealing a rivet shank 14 passing through a plate 11, the projections 30 and 31 may be deformed to lie entirely within the ring recess 24. The member 19 is preferably moulded to the ring 18.
