Abstract

614,611. Work-holders. HOPKINS, E. C. July 19, 1946, No. 21609. [Class 83 (iii)] A collet holder for screwing or other machines has a clamping sleeve 5 in screw-threaded engagement with a housing 1 and incorporating a ring 6 rotatably mounted with respect to the sleeve and bearing on the conical head of the collet so that no relative rotation occurs between the ring and the collet when tightening the latter. An anti-friction bearing 10 to take end thrust is interposed between an annular shoulder in the clamping sleeve and a corresponding shoulder on the ring, and the latter is held in place by a split ring 11 engaged in an annular groove in the bore of the clamping sleeve. The collet is located in the housing by a peg 12.
