Abstract

608,432. Securing cranks on shafts. SIMPSON, J. C., SIMPSON, A. A., and SIMPSON, E. A., (trading as HALL GREEN CYCLE CO.). Feb. 23, 1946, No. 5668. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] In a spindle and crank combination for a cycle an axially bored spindle 1 has facetted ends 3 fitting into correspondingly facetted sockets 12 in the cranks 8, and a draw bolt 13 passes through the spindle for clamping the cranks thereto. The ends of the spindle are slightly tapered to provide a frictional grip between the spindle and cranks. The cranks are recessed at 16 for the reception of the mushroom type head 17 of the bolt 13 and its similarly-shaped nut 14.
