Abstract
938,145. Securing chucks on shafts. W. RAUCH, and A. SCHNIZLER, [trading as METABOWERKE KOMM. - GES. CLOSS, RAUCH & SCHNIZLER]. Aug. 24, 1962 [Sept. 12, 1961], No. 32610/62. Class 80 (2). A chuck or similar member 2 is secured on the end of a drive shaft 1 by a ball detent 8 engaging a circumferential groove 9 in the shaft and retained in position by a wedge surface 14 formed in a notch 13 in a transverse pin 10 loaded by a spring 12. The ball 8 may be released by manually moving the pin 10 against the spring 12 so that the ball enters the notch 13 to allow disengagement of the chuck and shaft. The drive torque is transmitted by a hexagonal portion 3 of the shaft 1 engaging a correspondingly formed recess in the top of the chuck.
