Abstract

1,018,494. Tool-holders; milling-cutters; boring-heads. WICKMAN Ltd. Nov. 14, 1962 [Nov. 28, 1961], No. 42445/61. Headings B3B, B3C and B3K. A toolholder comprises a cutting tip 14 secured by an L-clamp 15 one arm of which overlies the tip and the other engages a guide 16 in the toolholder-body 11, and a screw 19, Fig. 4 (not shown), engaging a recess 18 to draw the clamp against the tip. A bearing pad 12 for the tip is fixed by a screw 13, and the screw 19 operates the clamp against the influence of a spring 17. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the operating screw 21 accessible through an opening 24 in the body 11, engages screw-threads in the clamp, and the recess 22 is provided in the body 11. The toolholder may be used in a boring tool, or a plurality of them may be used in a milling- cutter and have adjustable abutments, as described in Specification 889,999.
