A socket chuck comprises a body 9, Fig. 2, with a tapered spigot 10 having a tapered toolreceiving bore 12, and a rim 11 provided with pins 14. The socket releasably engages a part 1, Fig. 1, fixed on a machine-tool spindle and formed with helical grooves 7, for engagement by pins 14, and a conical bore 5 to receive spigot 10.
