Abstract

1,066,211. Chucks. SAMUEL OSBORN & CO. Ltd. June 1, 1964 [April 1, 1963], No. 12820/63. Heading B3B. A chuck comprises a collet 19 and a floating piston 13 which is operated by fluid pressure to grip the work. The piston has a rectangular recess to engage an end of the tool or work to prevent its rotation. The piston is operated by screwing-in a plug 30. In a modification, the collet is oppositely-tapered and a surrounding sleeve 17 is moved by the piston to clamp the work.
