[Class 135] A cut-off valve member a of a prepayment gas meter is provided with a guiding sleeve b co-operating with a pin d and is actuated by a cranked rod i, j engaging in an open slot h in the stem above the valve. The gas inlet o is provided above the valve so that the seating e is shielded from any solid particles carried by the gas and to enable the valve to be withdrawn through the opening by means of a cranked arm p which in one position allows ready removal but when rotated to another position engages against the casing to prevent removal.
