Abstract

580,202. Pressure regulating valves. BRYAN DONKIN CO., Ltd., and STONE, B. I. April 6, 1944, No. 6455. [Class 135] A fluid-pressure governor suitable for controlling the flow of gas in a pipe or for controlling a gaspumping plant, has a stabilising device in the form of a spring d or the equivalent interposed between a diaphragm, piston or liquid-sealed bell such as c exposed on opposite sides to the differential pressure created by a venturi tube or the like x and the control or actuating diaphragm a of the governor, a damping device such as the dashpot g, h being associated with the stabilising device. As shown, the throat of the venturi tube x is connected by a pipe m to the underside of the diaphragm c which has a stem f bearing the dashpot piston g. A fixed restriction l is arranged in the pipe m and an adjustable control device in the form of a needle valve is arranged in a pipe k joining the two connections to the venturi tube so that a part only of the full differential pressure may operate on the diaphragm c. In the case of a relay-controlled governor; the stabilising device operates on the pilot governor and the venturi tube is arranged in the main gas flow.
