790,501. Fluid-actuated valves. BROWN, R. W., PARKER, R. H., and FEARNLEY, G. C. Jan. 25,1956 [July 6,1955], No. 19597/55. Class 135. In a diaphragm-actuated gas pressure governor, the pressure control diaphragm 19 is isolated from direct contact with the gas flowing through the valve body 10, its upper face being subjected to the pressure at the throat 14 of a Venturi in the outlet duct 11 transmitted through a passage 15, and its lower face, to atmospheric pressure through a vent 25. The diaphragm 19 which is fixed to a stem 21 carrying the valve member 13 is loaded by weights 33 carried on two-armed pivoted levers 30 connected by links 29 to an arm 28 carried by the stem so that the weights 33 open the valve against outlet pressure. A diaphragm 22 secured to the base of a body part 18 is subjected to inlet pressure to balance the inlet pressure acting on the upper face of the valve member 13 and a diaphragm 27 seals a body part 17 against leakage. The vent 25 may be throttled to damp closing movements of the valve.
