Abstract
578,878. Cooling engines. FAIRMILE MARINE CO., Ltd., and COOPER, F. Oct. 1, 1942. No. 13785. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A ship or boat is driven by an air-cooled internal-combustion engine or engines enclosed in cowlings A B receiving air from and delivering it to the deck, e.g., through an inlet compartment D having baffles to stop passage of sea water or spray and a deck erection H having adjustable louvres for the same purpose and for regulating of cooling, and delivering to an outlet shaft F. Air may be drawn through by fans on the engine shafts. Carburetter air intake pipes J. K lead from the air trunks A<2>, B<2> leading from the compartment D. The engine exhaust pipes may be cooled by air or water. In a modification the chamber D is omitted and the cowlings have inlet bell mouths.
