Abstract
577,140. Water-waste preventers. SHAW, A. G., and SHAW'S GLAZED BRICK CO., Ltd. Oct. 12, 1943, No. 16701. [Class 26] A flushing cistern comprises an outer shell 1 with an integral secondary chamber 7 accommodating means 6 to start the siphoning action, said secondary chamber having an integral duct 8 adapted to transfer the water from the secondary chamber to the discharge opening 16, said chamber being in permanent communication at its lower part, through an opening 7a, with the interior of the shell 1 and being fitted at its top with a cap 12 also covering the upper end of the duct 8 and shaped to form a leg or bend connecting the upper parts of the duct and chamber. The duct may be formed in each of a pair of hollow radial wings 9, the two branches of the duct uniting in a common outlet beneath the chamber, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or the duct may be formed in a single bay at the front of the cistern, as shown in Figs. 4 and 7, the former of these Figures showing an arrangement suitable for a low flush cistern, and the latter an arrangement for flushing the wall 27 of a urinal.
