983,855. Sanitary closets. SHANKS & CO. Ltd. June 6, 1962 [June 6, 1961], No. 20346/61. Heading E1C. In a water-closet pan 1 incorporating a hollow flushing rim 3 having a water passage 4 and the inner wall of which is integral and flush with the inner wall of the bowl 2 and is formed with ducts 9 discharging within the pan 1, the inner wall of the rim 3 at the pan rear has an overhang 10 and at the pan front has an upward flare at 11, the inner wall portions of the rim 3 therebetween having an upward flare but to a smaller degree. The discharge apertures of at least some of the ducts 9 are lower than their inlets, some of the ducts 9 have circumferential direction relative to the pan 1, and the inner wall of the rim 3 has ducts 7, 8 at the pan rear and front, respectively, inclined and directed as shown. The passage 4 is connected by apertures 6 to the water-inlet passage 5.
