Abstract

576,210. Valves. THOMAS, P. E. June 12, 1944, No. 11219. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a coupling of the kind in which both coupling members are provided with loaded valves, one of the valves being an annular member which seats on a part adapted to lift the other valve from its seat, the valves are loaded by an annular rubber member which is bonded to the valve or valve stem and to a fixed part of the coupling member. The valve 7 seating at 6 in the coupling member 4 has a bore 11 in its stem and across -bore 12 to allow fluid passage and the bonded rubber annulus 10 is also perforated. The annular valve member 18 which seats on the fixed member 14 and the other coupling member 3 has a skirt 19 to which the rubber annulus 20 is bonded. In a modification, the valves may be loaded by springs in addition to the rubber.
