Abstract
558,438. Pipe couplings; valves. CLEVELAND, F. J. (Bendix Aviation Corporation). July 1, 1942, No. 9114. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] Two pipe coupling members 10, 50 each have a spring-loaded lift-valve 26, each of which is hollow, closed at its inner end and with lateral ports 30 at the closed end. The ports in each valve have a combined area greater than that of the passage 23. A sleeve 36 secured in each coupling member forms a guide and a seat for the shoulder 32 on the valve. Limit stops are formed by circlips 38 engaging recesses in the guides. A sealing ring is vulcanized to the shoulder 32. The coupling members have interfitting steps 22, 56 enclosing a gasket 24 vulcanized to one end of them and are coupled by a nut 58 mounted on member 50 between shoulder 59 and circlip 60. The member 10 may be secured in a partition 16.
