Abstract

571,930. Insulators; mounting terminals. JOHNSON & PHILLIPS, Ltd., and STEVENS, C. J. H. Nov. 15, 1943, No. 19004. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] A lead-in insulator 1, for an oil &c. container, has its inner end writhin the container and immersed in the oil which enters a central bore a, escape of oil from the other end outside the container being prevented by a seal 6 between the insulator 1 and the conductor 2, the seal 6 and cap 4 being conical so that the thrust of the cap compresses the seal against both the insulator and the conductor. A non-circular collar or nut 3 on the conductor is housed in the insulator and the packing 6 is compressed by the cap 4 into an annular groove f. The insulator has a flamge 12 sealed by a clamp ring 15 to the wall 13 of a cable box secured to the container.
