Abstract

1,186,138. Two-part coupling. KINGS ELECTRONICS CO. Inc. 5 Nov., 1968, No. 52269/68. Heading H2E. A coaxial cable 4 is joined to a connector by a cylindrical cable clamping sleeve 5, provided with sealing rings 8, which is crimped to form a moisture-proof connection. A tapered, cylindrical extension 21 of the connector slides under the outer cable braiding 3 and the cable central conductor 1 and dielectric 2 pass through the extension 21 into the connector. The crimping operation is carried out in a twopart hexagonal die (14, 17, Fig. 3, not shown) over the whole length of the sleeve 5. The annular sealing rings 8 may be of elastomeric material such as rubber or synthetic material. 'In another embodiment, the cable entry end of the sleeve 5 is curled over to enclose the outer annular face of the sealing ring. In a further embodiment, the sleeve 5 is formed with a uniform extemal diameter, the sealing rings being located in annular recesses cut from the wall of the sleeve again either enclosing or exposing one or both end faces of each sealing ring.
