570,518. Workholders. COCKING, W. C., and ROBERTS, A. G. Dec. 7, 1943, No. 22703/44. Divided out of 570,508. [Class 83 (iii)] An adjustable work-holding clamp comprises a T -head 6 for insertion in the slot of a machine &c. table, which head is attached to a hollow pillar 1 by a rod 4 pinned at 7 to an elongated nut 8 screwing on a stem 5 of the head 6. A foot 3 and top flange 31 are welded to the pillar and have holes through which pass the stem 5 and rod 4. A clamping arm 12 carrying a work-engaging screw 15 is attached to the flange 3<1> by a nut 13 on a bolt 9 attached to the flange and by a nut 14 screwing on the rod 4, and the arm is cranked at 17 so that reversal of the arm on the pillar will adjust the position of the screw 15 to suit different sized work. A second screw 15 may be provided at the opposite end of the arm, which is straight, as shown, or cranked by a different amount from the end 17 so that further adjustment to suit the work may be obtained by turning the arm end for end. The pillar 1 may be adjusted angularly around the rod 4.
