Abstract
603,913. Turning ceramic &c. pipe ends. POWER, C. C. Sept. 30, 1946, No. 29099. [Class 124] The outer periphery 28 of the end of a ceramic or like pipe 3 is shaped by means of a manuallyoperated tool 26, the holder 12 of which is secured to a nut 6 threaded on a bar 2 clamped in, and projecting axially from, the end of the pipe. The nut 6 is rotated by a handle 11 of adjustable length. The clamp may comprise a plug split into longitudinal segments 16 and bored at both ends to receive a conical plug 23 and a conical nut 24 which is adjusted along a threaded extension 19 of the bar 2 by means of a handle 27 to expand the segments 16. The segments may be held in place by elastic bands in grooves 25. According to the Provisional Specification, the arm 8 carrying the holder 12 may be of adjustable length, the holder 12 may be pivotally mounted, and the tool 26 may be reversed for a return cut.
