Abstract

890,815. Portable turning machines. REEKIE & SONS Ltd., DAVID. June 16, 1960 [June 17, 1959], No. 20823/59. Class 83 (3). A hollow body portion 10, which may have a carrying handle 40 and feet 39, is provided with adjustable bolts 13 at one end to grip a pipe centrally within it. An axially movable spindle 19 carries a cutter head 16 adjacent the pipe end and is driven by worm gearing 24, 37 from a motor secured to the side of the body. The spindle is adjusted manually by a sleeve member 29. Tools may be used with the head to bevel the pipe-end and machine, to a limited depth, the internal bore, or, annular grooves may be cut in the face of a pipe.
