Abstract

405,085. Vices. FROST, W., 9, Mozart Terrace, Gateshead-on-Tyne. Nov. 22, 1932, No. 32981. [Class 61 (ii).] The gripping jaws 4, 5 of a vice are disposed in a slot 3 in the body 1 and project above the flat top 2 which supports the work gripped between the jaws. A hand operated pinion 12 engaging a rack 13 on the jaw 4 enables the jaws to be adjusted vertically to project more or less above the flat top 2, the jaws being cross connected by the adjusting spindle 8 and guide rod 6 movable in vertical slots 15, 16 in the walls of the vice body 1 and clamped in vertically adjusted position by a nut 19 on the threaded end 18 of the guide rod 6. The body 1 is provided with lugs 21 apertured at 22 for bolting to a bench or may be mounted for angular adjustment about an axis 24 on a base 23 provided with stop surfaces 34, 35 for accurately positioning the body at 45‹ or horizontally.
