Abstract

563,581. Pipe joints. SPENCER. MOULTON & CO., Ltd., G., and GLASCODINE, R. K. April 14, 1943, No. 4486/44. Divided out of 563,577. [Class 99 (i)] A swivelling joint comprises a double conical boss 10 on the pipe 11 adapted to be engaged by internal conical surfaces on a collar 1 on the pipe 2 and on a sleeve nut 8 screwing on to the collar. The conical surfaces have aligned annular grooves or alternate spaced annular ribs 15, 16. The grooves may be filled with white metal or lubricant. The collarmay be of malleable cast iron screwed on to the pipe 2 and the boss 10 may be of phosphor bronze brazed to the pipe 11. A bent strip looking member 13 is held by a grub-screw 4 which also locks the collar on the pipe 2. The nut has a cylindrical skirt 12 to ensure axial alignment.
