Abstract

431,083. Pipe couplings. FORD CONE JOINTS, Ltd., and FORD, J., Tyburn Road, Erdington, Birmingham. March 20, 1934, No. 8680. [Class 99 (i)] A pipe 7 is jointed to a coupling member 3 by a coned sealing ring 5 which is forced between the pipe and a conical seating on the inner wall of the coupling member by a nut 4. The sealing ring 5 is loosely mounted within the coupling nut 4 and is secured therein, with the outermost face of a flange 5<a> on the sealing ring abutting against a shoulder 4<a> on the coupling nut, by a locking ring 6 screwed on the outer end of said sealing ring, the threads of the nut 4 and locking ring 6 being right- and left-handed respectively.
