Abstract

571,935. Pipe joints. BRITISH ERMETO CORPORATION, Ltd., and JONES, S. H. April 17, 1944, No. 7064. [Class 99 (i)] A pipe joint comprises an internally threaded coupling member 1 having an annular shoulder 2 adapted to engage a shoulder 4b on a tubular barrel 4 which extends through the end 1a of the coupling member and is formed at its other end 4d of non-circular section to engage a corresponding bore 6a in a screwed sleeve 6 which engages the internal thread of the coupling member and is adapted to compress a sealing ring 7 against the tapered seating surface 3. The sealing ring may. be of the type described in Specification 492,336 or it may be a compressible washer, or a shoulder 2 is dispensed with and a tapered shoulder on the barrel 4 engages the conical seat 3.
