Abstract

560,104. Alloys. BRADBURY, T. F. May 1, 1940, No. 7864. Addition to 524,113. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] The magnesium alloys described in the parent Specification, containing at least 80 per cent of magnesium, together with antimony, zinc, aluminium, and manganese, with or without other elements, are modified, by using sufficiently pure materials, so that the iron and silicon contents do not exceed 0.1 per cent each. Further, the minimum of the range of antimony may be lowered to 0.1 per cent, and the zinc content may be lowered or omitted. The alloys may be heated at 200-230‹ C. for at least 4 hours and cooled in air. The optional elements referred to in the parent Specification may be present with the exception of zirconium.
