Abstract
560,002. Lamp-holders. CURTIS, D. Sept. 10, 1942, No. 12791. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1941. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp holder for tubular lamps comprises a flat hollow body 15 having in one face slots 28 to receive the lamp contact pins and a socket 29 to receive a starting switch, contact strips housed in the body lying in proximity to the slots and forming the connections between the lamp-engaging elements 23, 23a, the plug-in contacts 23d, and the switch-mounting contacts 23c. The slots 23 are bifurcated to receive two lamp contacts which are retained by the bent ends of the contacts 23a. A sliding spring closure 42 for the slots may also be provided. The holder is mounted on a housing 40, Fig. 6, in which are supply leads 40a, constituting ballast elements and leading to a socket fitting 50 either in the bottom, ends, or sides of the housing, the form of-the body 15 being varied according to the position in which it is to be mounted. In all the forms the socket 29 is in proximity to one of the slots so as to be directly connected thereto by the contact strip 23b and controlling the lamp inserted therein. The other lamp of a pair is controlled from the holder at the opposite end, the holders being identical. Instead of employing a plug-in connection between the housing and the lampholder, the connection may be permanent, the leads 40a being attached directly to the ends 23d of the contact strips.
