Abstract

649,433. Lamp-caps. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 2, 1948, No. 28432. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1947. [Class 38 (i)] A base 10 for a tubular lamp 1 bent to a closed configuration comprises a split tubular shell 13 which is provided with recesses 23 for the lamp ends 2, 3 and on the exterior of which is mounted a member 11, 12 carrying projecting lamp pins 15, and movable limitedly around the shell in the interior of which the pins are connected to flexible lamp leading-in. wires. The contact carrying member is split into sections 11, 12 which are held in a groove 14 on the shell by a spring clip 16, the shell being retained immovable on the lamp by the engagement of a projection on the lamp end 2 with a recess 25 in the shell portion 21. The movement of the contact carrying member is limited by the walls 27 in the shell abutting a flat wall 20 in the section 11. Grooves 28 in the walls 27 accommodate the leading-in wires. In another embodiment, Figs. 5, 7, the contact carrying member 32 slides in a groove 36 in the section 30 of the shell comprised of the sections 30, 31, and is retained therein by its arcuate ridges 41, 42 engaging grooves 37, 38 in the shell. A screw 33 secures the shell portions together on the lamp, the leading-in wires in this case being accommodated in slots 45, 46 in the shell portion 30.
